Evidence
The Evidence
MasonBase's operational engine was benchmarked function-by-function against six named products — LodgeMaster, The Working Tools, the official UGLE Portal (Hermes/Adelphi), Masonic Lodge Secretary (US), Grand View Software (US), and Amity — 51 functions scored across nine areas of lodge operation. One framing point matters: this benchmark was run against the proven engine every MasonBase unit inherits. It's the evidence base MasonBase is built from, not a claim that every function below is live, out-of-the-box, for every order today.
Verdict breakdown (51 functions)
| Verdict | Functions | % of 51 |
|---|---|---|
| Ahead — no competitor documents it, or ours is clearly deeper | 24 | 47% |
| Equal — comparable depth | 19 | 37% |
| Mixed — different shape, each leads in places | 2 | 4% |
| Behind — a competitor documents more than we have built | 1 | 2% |
| Not live yet — built, but gated behind a decision | 2 | 4% |
| Not relevant — outside a single unit's needs | 3 | 6% |

Where we're honest about gaps
Two items remain genuinely open:
- Secretary / officer handover tools — Behind. The Working Tools advertises dedicated handover tools; our own alerts follow whoever currently holds an office automatically, but no formal handover pack or checklist exists yet.
- Online dues collection and subscription billing — built, but not yet live: proration, monthly billing and an under-25 discount all exist in sandbox, gated behind committee sign-off rather than a technical gap.
Methodology & caveats
- LodgeMaster was assessed from its own published manual, not hands-on use of the live product.
- The Working Tools, Masonic Lodge Secretary, Grand View and Amity were assessed from public marketing pages, reviews and app-store listings — their documented depth, not their verified depth.
- The UGLE Portal is the official membership record system, not a lodge-operations tool, included for context rather than as a direct competitor.
- Where a competitor's documentation is silent on a function, that function is marked "not documented," never "confirmed absent."
